CAST: Molly Goldberg (played by Gertrude Berg), Jake
Goldberg (Robert H. Harris), Sammy Goldberg (Tom Taylor),
Rosalie "Rosie" Goldberg (Arlene McQuade), Uncle David (Eli
Mintz).
TRIVIA: One of the early "sitcoms" ported over from radio to
TV. Unfortunately almost no one remembers it.
STORY: The adventures of a middle-class Jewish family who
reside in the Bronx. The Goldbergs originally began on
radio and then moved to networks for six years of live
shows. In 1955, a series of filmed episodes were syndicated
on local stations. Until recently, the filmed episodes had
not been repeated for over 20 years.
MOVING DAY
After 25 years in the same apartment, the family plans to
move to a house in Haverville. Molly wants to buy a
particular house, but she may not be able to get it.
SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
Molly finds that it is difficult to make friends with the
new neighbors in Haverville.
PICNIC
The ladies of Haverville refuse to attend a picnic given by
a very beautiful widow. So Molly asks Jake to keep her
company.
FELDERMAUS
Molly produces a production of "Fledermaus" to help her
ladies' auxiliary.
ROSIE'S NOSE
Molly tries to prevent Rosie from having plastic surgery
preformed on her nose.
DESPERATE MEN
To escaped criminals invade the Goldberg home. Molly,
thinking they are college boys performing an initiation
stunt, welcomes them.
Guest star: Frank Sutton.
DREAMS
Molly takes up the piano when her dreams show that she has
been suppressing her artistic talents.
BRIEF ENCOUNTER
Molly feels old and tired, but she soon changes her mind
when she falls for her dentist.
REACH FOR THE MOON
Molly appears on a TV quiz show where she chooses cooking as
her category.
MOLLY'S POCKETBOOK
Molly mistakenly takes the wrong pocketbook when she leaves
a restaurant.
THE INHERITANCE
Molly's cousin Harold, who has an inferiority complex, goes
to work at Jake's dress factory but soon changes when he
learns he has inherited a lot of money.
TREASURY BOOK
The family buys coupon books for free merchandise, but
spends so much money on additional purchases that Jake
decides to teach them a lesson in saving money.
THE POET
While on her way to the dentist in New York, Molly meets a
man on the train who recites poetry to her. She then
believes that the romance has gone out of her marriage.
INSURANCE
When Jake and Mandel decide to rest before they take an
insurance physical, Molly and Mrs. Mandel think they are
sick.
ROSIE THE ACTRESS
Rosie is offered a one-line speaking part in a professional
play.
THE BOYFRIENDS
When several boys ask Rosalie to go out with them, she can't
make up her mind whom to go out with.
THE ENGAGEMENT RING
Sammy and Dora decide to become engaged, but they don't
think an engagement ring is necessary.
SAMMY GETS MARRIED
Sammy's wedding is two weeks away when Molly learns that all
of the relatives have refused to attend because of a
misplaced invitation.
WEDDING PLANS
Sammy wants to have a small wedding, but the guest list is
still growing.
GIRL SCOUTS
Molly volunteers to become a troop mother for a girl scout
brownie troop.
THE PARTNERS
Jake accuses his business partner of giving him an
inferiority complex.
BAD COMPANIONS
Trouble begins when Uncle David buys a pool table and then
lets the table sit in the basement unused.
IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?
Uncle David and a visiting uncle have a fight and refuse to
live in the same house together.
MARRIAGE BROKER
Molly plays matchmaker in a story of unfriendly encounters.
THE HOBBY
Molly and the family try to convince Jake that he is working
too hard at the factory and that he should take up a hobby.
THE MILK FARM
Molly goes to a milk [fat] farm to reduce but gets thrown
out when she sneaks food into her room and all the ladies
gain weight.
ULTIMA THULE
Sammy and Dora try to find a place to live where they won't
have any trouble from their mothers-in-law.
NURSES AID
Molly becomes a nurses aid, and is soon bringing the
patients home with her.
SILENCE IS NOT GOLDEN
An old friend of Molly's arrives with desperate news.
THE SINGER
Rosalie rehearses a song for the school play. Molly decides
that her voice is beautiful and she should have the correct
musical training.
SEYMOUR STORY
Molly convinces Jake to rehire his former clerk who wants to
escape his domineering mother.
BEAUTY PARLOR STORY
Molly wants to help a beautician who wants to spend more
time with her family.
DAVID'S COUSIN
Uncle David receives word that his second cousin Boojie is
coming for a visit.
MEMBERS OF THE JURY
Molly loses her wristwatch.
BOOJIE COMES BACK
When his Irish cousin leaves a broken-hearted widow to
return to Ireland, Uncle David is left to console her.
DAVID'S OBITUARY
The members of Uncle David's lodge mistakenly believe he is
dead.
MOLLY'S FISH
A food packager tastes Molly's homemade gefilte fish at a
charity bazaar and offers to sell it commercially to his
chain of supermarkets.
SIMON'S MAID AND BUTLER
Molly's rich uncle offers to let the Goldbergs have his two
servants while he is away.
THE CAR
When the family car breaks down on a lonely road in a
blinding rainstorm, Molly accuses Jake of car-neglect.
